Food as community

I think that food creates a sense of community and allows people to intermingle across social lines they might not otherwise interact with. Food is a major unifying factor in so many people’s lives and I’m honored to be a part of that process.

Midwestern Excellence

Chef Kenna Dollete has been living and working in kitchens across the country since the tender age of 14.

Coming up in her mother’s banquet facility, she left to pursue a culinary arts degree at the Le Cordon Bleu of Portland, Oregon. She graduated at 20 years old, whilst simultaneously facilitating the opening of local izakaya, Tanuki, and cementing her love affair with Japanese cookery.

After years celebrating the bounty of the Willamette Valley, she headed back to her Midwestern roots with time at Detroit’s Selden Standard as Chef de Partie, consulting on the cafe space for the BasBlue Center and heading the largest catering facility in Southeast Michigan as Executive Chef of Two Unique Catering.

Outside the kitchen, Chef Kenna spends her time supporting the local community of women uplifting the City of Detroit, spearheading the “Pop-Ups for a Purpose” event series with BasBlue.
